The Gujarat Chapter was initially
launched as Ahmedabad Chapter and was later on
converted to Gujarat Chapter.
On the morning of 24th April,
a meeting of the Core Group of the soon-to-be-launched
WZCCI (World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce),
Ahmedabad Chapter, was held at the office of Areez
Khambatta, President of the Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat.
A Jashan ceremony was organized
by the Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat in the evening
of Saturday, 24th April at Paak Vakil Anjuman
Adarian Saheb. Areez Khambatta, President of the
Parsi Panchayat, gave a welcome address. He explained
how very impressed he was with the aims and objects
of WZCCI when he was invited as Keynote Speaker
at the inauguration of the Mumbai Chapter on 8th
June 2003. Soon thereafter he had discussed with
his co-Trustees about the various advantages of
starting a Chapter at Ahmedabad. Zarine Commissariat
thereafter explained to the large communal gathering
the background of the WZCC, the establishment
of the Chamber in India, with Chapters in Mumbai,
Delhi and Pune. She motivated members to join
the Ahmedabad Chapter, when it would be inaugurated
the next day.
On the morning of Sunday, 25th
April there was a large turnout at the first ever
gathering of the WZCCI Ahmedabad Chapter. Areez
Khambatta, Patron, welcomed the gathering and
highlighted the advantages of joining the Chapter.
Zarine Commissariat and Kersi Limathwalla thereafter
conducted an interactive session and responded
to the various questions raised. The enthusiasm
shown by the members of our community in Ahmedabad
was tremendous. When the membership forms were
distributed, it was heartening to note that Dr.
Ms. Armaity Davar and Mr. Burjor Patel immediately
signed on as Patrons of the Ahmedabad Chapter.
