The objective of Rajiv Gandhi Udyami Mitra Yojana (RGUMY) is to provide handholding support and assistance to the potential first generation entrepreneurs, who have already successfully completed EDP/SDP/ESDP or vocational training from ITIs, through the selected lead agencies i.e. 'Udyami Mitras', in the establishment and management of the new enterprise, in dealing with various procedural and legal hurdles and in completion of various formalities required for setting up and running of the enterprise

With harmonization of all those laws and procedures across the 25 member states being far from complete, some transparency on the part of the EU is needed. This database is one way of providing that. In the first phase, the database offered information on import tariffs, trade statistics and EU preferential trade regimes. Now it also includes import requirements and internal EU taxes. Most of these data were already available on various EU websites, but now that they are all in one database, they are far more accessible.
